Having firmly established their reputation in the travel backpack market with their hugely successful Farpoint model, Osprey were not content to rest on their laurels. Recognising the ever-growing diversity of travelling modes and the corresponding increased expectations from the equipment being used to accommodate life on the move, Osprey have developed the Farpoint to give it the convenience of an all-purpose rolling travel bag whilst retaining its core versatility as a backpack. The resultant Farpoint Wheels 65 offers the avid traveller the best of both worlds: at one moment, a stylish rolling holdall that can glide through all those hasty runs through airports, train stations and bus terminals, and the next moment a fully-featured backpack with a shoulder, back and hip-system to rival any dedicated hiking pack for those longer treks once in situ at your chosen location. The Farpoint Wheels is a travel companion for all environments-built, urban, pastoral and trail - and gives another dimension to the award winning range of backpacks. This kit also includes a compatible 24 litre Osprey Daylite Travel which has been designed to attach to the front of the Farpoint Wheels and can also be 'piggy backed' ont the shoulder straps when walking.

The bulk of the Farpoints expansive 65L capacity is accessed by a large front panel which opens out to almost the full length of the pack, ensuring any oversized luggage such as walking poles, packable tents and foldable chairs can be easily accommodated. Business travellers may also appreciate the generous front opening, making the Farpoint ideal to carry longer items such as tripods and presentation screens. Inside the main compartment, you'll find two sets of compression straps to keep your equipment tight and secure. On the inside of the front panel, there are two separate mesh compartments, perfectly sized to fit your neatly organised packing cubes or other smaller items. An assiduous, extra-thick zipper keeps the front of the pack secure, whilst chunky and lockable 'kissing' zips gives the bag further protection. For further convenience, two large mesh pockets are available on the outside of the front panel, easily tall enough to fit litre-sized water bottles or to stow any of those quick-access items such as maps, tickets, or food. Two further pockets are available at the roof of the bag, and at the top of the front panel, divided from the rest of the pack by a water-resistant lining making them an excellent repository for your wet and dirty smalls. Two sets of compression straps adorn the lower and upper sections of the bag on the outside, working with the internal compression straps to ensure your luggage is kept secure and stable, eradicating the dreaded 'wobble' when your wheeling or carrying the bag with loose kit inside. Finally, recognising that often the given capacity of a bag is not quite enough, room for expansion is provided with the inclusion of six extra-thick bungee strap points at the top, bottom of sides of the bag, ensuring bungees can be threaded to affix sleeping bags, tents, or other oversized items. Further expansion potential is given with the compatibility with the Osprey Daylite backpacks, which can be worn in 'kangaroo' fashion when wearing the Farpoint Wheels as a backpack. If producing the classic fusion of wheeled convenience and backpack versatility presented any technical difficulties, then Osprey have pulled off the remarkable feat of ensuring they are not evident. The back system is taken directly from the Farpoint model, award winning for its comfort and ease of use. This sets the Farpoint Wheels apart from many other wheeled backpacks, where the back systems can often be rudimentary, and whose backpack function is best confined to temporary only. The Farpoint Wheels, conversely, is 'back-ready'. The shoulder straps and back system are housed in concealed, zipped panel. Once opened, this panel can be rolled up and stowed at the base of the backpack with the aid of a velcro pouch. Once the shoulder straps are in play, you then have all the advantages of a fully featured backpack. It boasts Osprey's Airspeed floating ventilated mesh back panel, thick padded shoulder straps with moisture wicking and a fully padded hip-belt. It is a backpack you can happily wear for hours, and one which will forgive even the most arduous conditions. The additional alloy structure necessary to house the pull-handle is not allowed to interfere in the slightest with the comfort of the backpack, and is kept unobtrusive and separate from the shoulder and back areas. On the other hand, the peripheral frame around which the backpack is constructed ensures it retains its shape, distributes the weight evenly around the pack, and helps transfer the load down into the buttressing of the hip-belt. The Farpoint Wheels features Osprey's tough 210D high tenacity ripstop nylon as its main fabric, ensuring the bag is both strong and light. The alloy pull-handle inspires confidence when in use, as do the chunky over-sized wheels which are built for any terrain. And with two thick padded grab handles at the top and sides of the bag, the solid reassuring feel gives an evocation of a tough, uncomplaining holdall sidekick, happily churning up the miles in its wake.

The Daylite Travel daypack is new for 2019 and has been designed to complement the Farpoint and Fairview range of packs. It has an 18 litre capacity that can be expanded to 24 litres by unzipping the expandable section around the outer edge. Unique to this pack is the front loop attachments which allow it to be attached to the Farpoint Wheels to make a larger capacity pack. It can also be clipped onto the shoulder straps when walking.
