Of those, the vast majority consider that there is only one choice – Victorinox, the original makers of the Swiss Army Knife and still, over a century after its introduction, the leading name in the industry.
The parent company was founded in 1884 by Karl Elsener, while the brand name Victorinox introduced in 1921, comes from a combination of Victoria (Elsener’s mother) and ‘inox’ (a shortened form for stainless steel which was a new innovation at the time). In their industrious history Victorinox have been official suppliers for both the Swiss Army and the US military departments – Army, Marines and Air Force.

In 1999 Victorinox introduced travel gear to its brand ranges which includes luggage, day bags, rucksacks, overnight travel needs, toiletry kits, laptop bags and personal security items.
