In 1990 Tim Macartney-Snape scaled Everest on a solo expedition. Although not the first climber to complete this achievement he was however the first to climb each of Everest’s 8,848 metres because he started at sea level. On returning to his native Australia he teamed up with a climbing friend to create what was to be a highly successful brand named after his achievement – Sea to Summit.
