Firstly they are side opening which gives you easy access to your contents and allows for more detailed organisation. Secondly they have removable daysacks which are usually fixed onto the main travel pack via clipm buckles or zips. These are ideal for keeping valuables with you while you are out for the day. Thirdly the shoulder and waist straps can be protected via a zip off cover so they do not get damaged by baggage handlers or carousels.
